Greetings VA-ROL Members –

Great information Monday on uses of Laserfiche.  I believe the query was well covered.

Since taking on the list moderator duties, I’ve observed a pattern I’d like to address before anyone else jumps ship.  Most every time there’s an exchange of ideas or responses that consists of more than three messages, at least a couple of ‘listers’ determine that that’s too much information on a topic that doesn’t pertain to them, and unsubscribe.

Instead of leaving, and this is especially directed to the designated records officers, since updates to records retention and disposition schedules, notices of educational opportunities, and other RM-related news from the Library of Virginia is sent out only through VA-ROL, please consider switching to receiving a digest version of the posts. By logging into the list settings (creating an account, if needed) and changing your Subscription type: to “Digest (HTML format),” you will receive one message per day, with each topic discussed listed at the top of the message, and all of the postings attached.  Clicking on a posting subject in the body of the message will open that specific message from the attachments.  The only caveat…if you want to respond to the list, you need to forward that specific message to [log in to unmask].

A sample is attached…

For other reminders on effectively using this list, as well as any list, please take a look at the VA-ROL Tip Sheet.

A good rest of the week all,

- Glenn
