    To kick off our third week of Records Management Month, here is some information on professional associations specializing in records management that offer membership, educational opportunities, standards and guidelines, and many other resources for records management professionals to enhance their knowledge and stay current with industry trends and best practices.
    The Virginia Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (VAGARA) is a statewide not-for-profit association providing guidance and fostering collaboration of records managers, archivists, and information professionals in state and local government for managing Virginia's public records.  Through established networks within state and local government and with some of the industries leading experts in information management, document storage, and document destruction, VAGARA continues to advance the growth and professional development of its members for effectively managing government records.     The National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (NAGARA) is a professional association dedicated to the educational and professional development of records and information management professionals in federal, state, and local government. The association encourages ongoing collaboration of government agencies in the effective exchange and management of information through continued growth and expansion of government records management and archival records programs.     The Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA International) is a not-for-profit association offering educational resources for managing paper and electronic records for professionals representing different industries nationally and locally.
