Thanks. I guess that makes sense. Janice In a message dated 4/11/2012 3:20:13 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [log in to unmask] writes: Janice, men and women did go back and forth to England. Not like we do today but they did not come and get "stuck" here. Some did not like it and returned to live. I have one of those. -----Original Message----- From: Janice Friel Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2012 10:39 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: Adventurers of Purse and Person I found three importation records of a man by his name. One was in 1657. He wand 20 other persons were transported by Wm. Presly. Also transported by Howell Pryse 1687 and John Stith in 1664. How could that be unless they are different people and how do I find out which one is mine. Janice In a message dated 4/11/2012 11:27:04 A.M. And yes the Rent Roll show he was of age in 1704. That has been a good help to everyone. But still he may have turned 21 that year or the 2 years before, meaning he was not of age in 1701 but his parents would be. -----Original Message----- From: Janice Friel Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2012 9:49 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: Adventurers of Purse and Person He is on the Rent Roll for 1704 in K & Q Co., but that would only tell me he was over 21 at that time, right? I did find his daughter in her husbands will and it stated that the father's land was left to her , but I don't see that would help me in finding out the father age. You establish age many ways. You are not going to find any birth records other than in a church parish registry which a few have survived. But you can find a man owning land in 1680 and know he was born before that. Or find land left to a daughter using her married name, etc. -----Original Message----- From: Janice Friel Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2012 9:23 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: Adventurers of Purse and Person Where did you find documentation of age before 1701? I'm looking for my folks from K & Q Co. Janice In a message dated 4/11/2012 10:13:59 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [log in to unmask] writes: There are two Colonial Dames societies that I know of. One is Colonial Dames XVII Century and the other is Colonial Dames of America. The first requires one to prove to someone of legal age with "service" prior to 1701. I think the second one takes much younger ancestors. That is why I love the one I am in. I love proving back to the earliest people. I have done 7 supplementals since Jan on new people! My ancestors who have never been proven before. Google either of these organizations and you will find the qualifications for membership. Both would be by invitation.
