The Library of Virginia, the archival agency for the Commonwealth of Virginia, is seeking an Electronic Records Policy and Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Digital Initiatives & Web Services Manager in the Information Technology Division, the individual selected for this position will lead agency-wide research, planning and development of the proper procedures, workflows, policies, and documentation related to the acquisition, processing, management, and access to the electronic archival records and other born-electronic content of the commonwealth's government. This position is part of a team that includes colleagues across the agency, such as technical staff, librarians, archivists and records managers. The ideal candidate for this position will exhibit the Library of Virginia's competencies with emphasis on leadership, consensus building in a team environment, independence, and collaboration.

 

Qualifications

 

Experience as an archivist or in records/information management required.

Comprehensive knowledge of records management and archival standards and practices.

Considerable knowledge of the following:

Descriptive, technical, preservation and structural metadata standards;

Digital asset management systems and open source technologies related to the delivery of electronic and digital library and archival collections;

Emerging standards and professional issues related to the long-term management of and access to electronic records.

Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills required.

Ability to conduct research, analyze trends, and reach logical decisions.

Ability to develop and write policies and guidelines.

Ability to understand, document and organize complex workflows.

Masters degree preferred in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited graduate program preferred but not required.

Knowledge of legal and professional issues concerning electronic records management highly desirable.

Formal training or experience in archives administration and processing, electronic records or digital collection management highly desired.

Understanding of public access needs and public service functions in archival repositories desired.

Security background check required.

 

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for educational requirements.
