To everyone on the list;

I'd also add to Glenn Smith's reply by stating that if you wish to receive e-mails from a question you have posed on the LVA list-serv and not have the replies from others sent to everyone, just include your name and business e-mail address in your initial inquiry to the List-serv and request that all replies be sent to that address.  This will keep you in the loop on the List-serv and save others from getting all the replies.  Those folks still interested in finding out what others may have reponded can contact the individual at their business address for the information.

Subject: Va. Records Officer ListServ (and new analyst)

Greetings all,

I have been lurking in the shadows for the past couple of months as the newest records analyst at the Library of Virginia.  This seems like a good time to say hello.  While the new kid on the Records Analysis Services block, I've been with the Library for 26 years...all of it in records preservation for the circuit court clerks' offices.  I was in the midst of deciding on an early retirement offer when former analyst Tom Wellman resigned.  My administration decided that if I didn't retire then I needed to become an analyst.  Who could refuse an offer like that?

I am the analyst for all things Public Safety and Judicial, as well as Circuit Court Clerks and Commonwealth Attorneys.  To determine who is your analyst, please visit the contacts page on the Records Management Website and click on "Who is My Analyst." http://www.lva.virginia.gov/agencies/records/contacts.asp.  For those who are my customers, I look forward to working with you.

In light of today's activity on the list, this is just a reminder that this List Serv (VA-ROL) is for requesting and sharing information pertaining to the management of state and local government records.  Most likely, if you are receiving these e-mails it's because you are the, or one of the, Records Officers for your agency.  This list is also used by us, the Records Analysis Section, to send out updates of retention schedules and to request feedback on potential updates.  For the most part, this is a quiet list.  Today was an exception.  If you are a Records Officer, removing yourself just cuts you off from an avenue of information that can greatly help you in your RM responsibilities.  But, to any who would wish to leave the list, please follow the link at the bottom of this post (but we hope you don't).

Thanks for your time.  Just FYI, the question on SS benefit records has been answered.

A good day,

Glenn
