Don Wilson, Virginiana librarian for Prince William County, has been studying Virginia resources and research techniques for over thirty years. He will present a talk "Researching Your Virginia Ancestors," on Thursday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Bull Run Regional Library's community room. The program will be repeated on Tuesday, July 27, at 7 p.m. In his talk, Mr. Wilson will attempt to give practical advice and step-by-step instructions for finding and documenting elusive Virginia ancestors. She will present a talk about the writing and publishing of this history, on Thursday, July 29, beginning at 7 p.m., at Bull Run Regional Library's community room. The author has traced the Hammill family back to Scotland and Northern Ireland in the 1600s, using a wide variety of evidence. The immigrant to America arrived in southern Maryland by 1726, and the family moved to Prince William County by 1778. The book includes a report on activities here during the Civil War and the family's later migration to the west coast. The book has been professionally edited, including a number of maps and photographs, and was published by Chicago Review Press this year.
