Good Morning, Since your talking about land and my question has nothing to do with the patents, I would like to ask a question. Maybe someone will catch this and have an answer. My husbands gr grandfather in 1894 lived at the old almshouse and was renting it. We are looking for the rental agreement. Can anyone help? Thanks, Mary -----Original Message----- From: Al Adams <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] Sent: Fri, May 7, 2010 3:12 pm Subject: [VA-ROOTS] Dates of Land Patents I have a question about the dates of Land Patents. There are two articular Patents that puzzle me. My ancestor Robert Adams received a number of Patents. He received one dated 11 April 1732, page 431. e received another date 29 September 1733, page 124 in the next book. he patents adjoin each other. However, the property description in the 732 Patent has as part of the bounds, the property line from the 1733 atent. The 1733 Patent makes no reference to the property lines from he 1732 Patent. It just seems backward. Secondly Robert Adams wrote his will dated 22 Feb 1738. In the will he ives each of his children a piece of land. One of the children is iven land on Mychunk Creek "joining my great tract up the creek and is separate Patent" he "great tract" was not Patented until 22 September 1739, nineteen onths AFTER the will was written. Obviously the land had to be dentified and surveyed well before the Patent was written. Is the atent just a long after-the-fact document? hanks l Adams To subscribe, change options, or unsubscribe, please see the instructions at ttp://listlva.lib.va.us/archives/va-roots.html To subscribe, change options, or unsubscribe, please see the instructions at http://listlva.lib.va.us/archives/va-roots.html
