The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2008, from 7 to 11 p.m., at the Bull Run Regional Library in Manassas. Ms. Taylor, a resident of the Boston area, has a master's degree in history. A staff member of Ancestry.com, she recently worked as a consultant for the "Today Show," helping to trace Meredith Vieira's ancestry. Her talk for RELIC After Dark will be on "Identifying and Dating Family Photographs." She will provide tips for discovering who's who in your family album. She has ten easy steps for naming those unidentified pictures tucked away in old shoeboxes. The clues are right there in the photographs. Since 2005 the Library's Ruth E. Lloyd Information Center (RELIC) has used this occasion to highlight their services in helping people research family and local history, while raising funds to supplement the collection's budget. The event features a full buffet dinner, beverages (including wine and beer), and an opportunity to use the library's many research facilities, including free printing from microfilm and electronic resources. Library staff will be on duty to assist. Although RELIC has a strong collection of materials for Virginia research, it also has many resources for those whose families lived elsewhere. Registrations are still being accepted for this event, although space is limited. The cost for the evening is $25 per person. To reserve a place at this year's 'RELIC After Dark,' send a check made out to Prince William Public Library System (or PWPLS) to RELIC, Bull Run Regional Library, 8051 Ashton Avenue, Manassas, VA 20109.
