Mrs. Pugh inherited a first edition (1796) of The Immortal Mentor; or, Man's Unerring Guide to a Healthy, Wealthy and Happy Life. The book is the earliest known publication of Rev. Mason L. Weems, a bookseller and author who lived in Dumfries, Virginia, and who wrote a popular biography of George Washington. This book contains inscriptions by Solomon Ewell and Jesse Ewell of Prince William County, the first owners of the book.
