As a result, a careful study reveals that in the final analysis, virtually nothing written in those patent and headright records will be found reliable if your desire is to ascertain when, where, and at whose charge any servant there listed arrived. In truth, the only fact that may be to be considered reliable within those records is that the servant listed there almost surely arrived in the colonies at some date prior to the patent.
