The downside is that those receiving digest mode will have a sizeable amount of their subject line devoted to the prepend. I would think that a LOT of people subscribe to digest mode as I do and I certainly don't want to spend my time scrolling anymore than I have to, would you? And sizeable means just that... Would the list lose members? Would valuable knowledge and ideas be lost? I can't find any information so far on where the ship landed at this time with him on board or what he did with his life from that point. We have family records of him years later living in Rhode Island and purchasing some land. We have stories that he came over on the Speedwell but couldn't pay his passage and had to be an indentured servant for a number of years. I don't know if that's true or not. Any help finding out more information about Robert Spink (or Spynk as it's spelled on the passenger list) would be great appreciated. From civil war records, I've found that John was born in Leesburg, Loudoun County, Virginia in 1831. I would love to know the names of his parents and siblings and possible may have narrowed it down to a handful of possible matches. His 1880 census records (the only census records I can find for him) state that his parents were born in VA also -a possible lead? John's 2nd wife, though not the mother of his son Charles, was Mary Ellen Young. John died in 1884 from complications of a civil war injury. Due to me living in Illinois, it's not easy for me to acquire VA vital records and such. I do subscribe to Ancestry and search regularly, but I've come to a brick wall. Thanks in advance to those who might have info on John. Erin I GoodSearch for the Knox County Humane Society. Apparently the vote was to not prepend anything. I host the Louisa site and have made a setting change so that "[VALOUISA]" starts the subject line. My personal opinion (sorry, gotta share) is that it is helpful to me because I typically spin through my list of messages looking at the subject line first. After eagerly reading all of the free offers for millions of dollars, etc., I sometimes find it necessary to look at the sender name if I don't recognize the relevance of the subject. Maybe it's time for the list administrator to dust off the original discussion to see why it is the way it is?
