Alexandria Library, Local History/Special Collections is the first public library to participate in VIRGINIA HERITAGE, a consolidated database of guides, or finding aids, to manuscript and archival collections in selected Virginia repositiories. The full-text of the finding aids is searchable by keyword and by individual institution. VIRGINIA HERITAGE is a cooperative project sponsored by VIVA, the Virtual Library of Virginia. The database, which is hosted by the University of Virginia Library, contains over 7,500 guides contributed by 27 libraries in 23 Virginia repositories.
