Sorry about error; scroll down in my website to "Document of the Month" and click there for the photo.  Such hotels were very widely used, there being no reliable automobiles or roads for such yet, and surely no motels.  So, every town had hotels and railroad stations in any town of size had these, hoping thereby to gain the business of all folks and crewmen waiting for trains during layovers, transfers and delays.
