For Caryn's question:
The CA exam is the examination by which one becomes a
"Certified Archivist" and member of the Academy of Certified Archivists.
Upon successful completion of the test, candidates receive the "CA" (Certified
Archivist) designation.
For Virginia government records folk, you may already be
doing the work of an "appraisal archivist" by scheduling records and assisting
in the location and identification of permanent records
series.
For further information on the Academy and the
certification process, see:

What
is the CA exam?
Folks
-
A quick note for
anyone writing the CA exam this year - four persons, so far, are signing
up for Richmond - so a fifth is required. Please contact me
off-list if you are interested.
Cheers!
