Phebe, Do your MORGANS include any of the folks below? I'd love to connect them to a larger Morgan familly and I belive they are related to Richard and Daniel Morgan and Morgantown, but don't have solid data. St. George Tucker Ranson researching: Ranson, Ransoné, Tucker, Bedinger, Wade, Morgan, Brooke, Clay --- just to name a few off the top of my head. 1. Abel2 Morgan (Richard ap1) was born 1738, and died 1829. He married Elizabeth Bedinger, daughter of Henry Bedinger and Magdalena von Schlegel. She was born 1755. Notes for Abel Morgan: Elizabeth, the eldest daughter, married Abel Morgan, a son of Richard ap Morgan, a gentleman whose family came from Wales to American in the seventeenth century. Richard Morgan, who belonged to an ancient family of Welsh gentlemen, was one of the first settlers in the neighborhood of Mechlenburg, now called Shepherdstown, a village on the banks of the Potomoc, in Jefferson County, West Virginia. Abel Morgan, the husband of Elizabeth, was a physician, and during the Revolution he acted as surgeon to the 8th Pennsylvania. His name is on the list of prisoners confined on the prison ship Jersey, off the Long Island coast. He died early, very probably from the effects of this confinement, and left his widow with five children to rear to maturity.
