The Library of Virginia is very happy to accept genealogical research files as well as family papers and Bible records. We have an extensive collection of notes and charts compiled on numerous families by individuals, as well as some professional researchers' files. We would be very happy to receive your research materials. We prefer that you keep the original order [as found in your files] of the materials. Every attempt is made to retain this arrangement, as we feel that the compiler had a definite reason for the way in which he or she kept the files. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me or Renee Savits our accessioner (804) 692-3795. Sincerely, Lyn Hart Lyndon H. Thanks. Is this an invitation to donate family files to your use? If so, what requirements have you as to the order and form in which the notes and files must be? ----- Original Message ----- From: Brent Tarter To: [log in to unmask] Sent: Thursday, February 26, 2004 7:00 AM Subject: Re: Genealogical Records The Library of Virginia has a very large collection of genealogical notes and charts that researchers have donated during several decades. They compliment our very large collection of family Bible records (which are on-line) and get used by modern researchers who do not wish to miss information and leads that previous researchers have uncovered. I use them, myself, from time to time, and am very glad to have them. Inasmuch as the Library of Virginia is the busiest of all the research libraries that family history researchers with Virginia connections visit, it is certainly an appropriate place for the deposit of such records.
