I should have mentioned that Powhatan County was split off of Cumberland in 1777, so a significant number of the individuals mentioned in my previous posts on the Cumberland County Committee on Safety soon after lived in Powhatan Co, including William Fleming and John Mayo who represented Cumberland in the House of Burgesses and at all of the Virginia Constituional Conventions (four I think) beginning in 1776.
