hummmm...you might also want to check out WebRoots.org. They put genealogy and history related books online in plain text format, and just put both volumes of "The Travels of Captaine John Smith" online, which includes "The Generall Historie of Virginia, New England & The Summer Isles" [published 1624], "The True Travels, Adventures and Observations" [published 1630], and "A Sea Grammar [published 1627]...all by Capt. John Smith.

Just go to: http://www.webroots.org
and click on the doors to enter. You'll be taken to the Library Main Page...the click-path to follow for that book is: "Browse and Read the Items" > "History" > "States" > "Virginia"
