The Library of Virginia is pleased to announce the opening on 7 January 2002 of a major exhibition, "Jefferson & the Capitol of Virginia," in the main gallery on the first floor of the Library of Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond. A joint project of the Library of Virginia and Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and curated by F. Carey Howlett and Charles E. Brownell, the exhibition will remain at the Library of Virginia through 15 June 2002 and will be at the Dewitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum in Williamsburg from 4 July 2002 through 17 February 2003. This major exhibition includes the model that Jean-Pierre Fouquet Clerisseau prepared in 1786 for Thomas Jefferson, who with the collaboration of Charles-Louis Clerisseau designed the Capitol of Virginia while residing in Paris, France. The model has been restored by Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The Library of Virginia is open from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Saturday.
