Does anyone connect to this family? About 1850, David MOORE(abt.1812) and his family came to Preston County from Rockingham County, VA and may have settled near Newburg. The family consisted of David MOORE his wife Abigail TUSINGER(abt.1812) and their sons Isaac(1835) and Philip(1832). Philip also had a wife and child, Lydia Ann HUNT(1833) and their son Romeo Newton MOORE(1850). By late 1860, Philip and Lydia had three more children, David Morgan MOORE(1855), Mary A. MOORE(1859), and Abbie MOORE(1860). Philip was a farmer and he enlisted in the army at Newburg on 21 June 1861. He was a private in D company of the 3rd Virginia Infantry under Colonel Hughes. The 3rd Infantry was part of General Robert H. Milroy's Brigade and fought against General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson at Mcdowell, Virginia at the start of the Valley Campaign. Philip died of typhoid fever in 23 June 1862 at Petersburg, VA, which is now in Grant County West Virginia. Romeo Newton MOORE was a coal miner and he married Martha Jane MOON on 27 June 1878. It's not known if they had any children. Abbie MOORE married Edgar S. LAREW(1855) in 1879 and had six children, Bertha B. LAREW(1880), Nettie May LAREW(1884), Newton LAREW(1889), William Guy LAREW(1891), Posten LAREW(1893), and Willard LAREW(1897). Edgar died sometime between 1896 and 1900. Mary A. MOORE never married. David Morgan MOORE married Josephine SINCLAIR(1860) and had three children, Milton Edward MOORE(1881), Estella MOORE(1884), and David M. MOORE(1890). David was a coal miner and died of a fever in 1890. Milton Edward MOORE was born at Scotch Hill in Preston County West Virginia (about 1 mile south of Newburg on Rt 92) 3 January 1881. He married Bessie POSTEN(1884) and they had five children, Harold M. MOORE(1906), Ruth Willard MOORE(1912), Milton Edward MOORE(1918), Vernon MOORE(1920), and Madaline MOORE. Milton and Bessie spent most of their married life in Grafton West Virginia and all of their children were born there. Harold was found dead on the streets of Grafton with a fractured skull on 16 September 1934. Milton died of cirrhosis of the liver on 20 December 1936 in Grafton and was buried at Bluemont Cemetery in Grafton.
