Thanks to all of you who answered the "bundling" question. Isn't it interesting that this custom still exists in the Amish community. My teenage daughter thought it would NEVER work today. As far as the accuracy of the movie.........the Smithsonian was a consultant on the movie according to the article printed in my Smithsonian magazine. They were asked to make sure the weapons, clothing, home interiors and such were accurate. In the movie, I did not see the bundling board down the center of the bed....but the young woman's mother sewed Mel Gibson's son into the bed clothes. And that is what started the question in the first place. As far a Mel Gibson being gay, as one list member speculated, .........I wouldn't know personally..........but according to interviews he has given, apparently he has had the same wife since 1989 and from that marriage he is the father of 6 children. I didn't intend to get into a controversy over actors and movie production.....was just curious about a custom that I, up to this time, was unaware of. Thanks for your interesting answers.
