Gayle, Good idea. In the spirit of your re-posting to "wake up the list," here goes. Capt. Samuel OLDHAM b. 1699 (where?) d. 1790 at which time he apparently was living in King William Co., VA. He was a judge and magistrate in King George and Westmoreland counties. Here's the good part - in Nov 1759 vestryment of his parish, Cople Parish, Westmoreland Co. brought before his court one of his bondwomen who was summarily sentenced to "22 lashes well laid on." Her offense - a "bastard child!" In 1791 one Edward OLDHAM (from whom my husband descends) inherited Peach Hill from this Samuel OLDHAM. As I have been unable to find parents for Edward or legitimate children for Samuel, can anyone help with the connection between the two? Maybe this will help "wake up the list?" Nothing like a little intrigue. Thank you all. Susan Oldham in FL To subscribe, change options, or unsubscribe please see the instructions at http://listlva.lib.va.us/archives/va-roots.html
