#Virginia established the first school for indigenous people in the early 18th century. Officials implemented Eurocentric, Christian curriculum in a concerted effort to eliminate native cultures. These efforts continued in the commonwealth for centuries until the Supreme Court decided Brown vs. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas (1954).
