“Straight to the Source” Twenty-Sixth Annual Program, March 23, 2018 On Friday, March 23, 2018, the Friends will sponsor the 26th annual *Straight to the Source* program at the Library of Virginia. Come join almost 2,000 people who have participated in this popular program as it moves into its second quarter-century. Participants now have the opportunity to hear what the staff has learned in the process of working with records in the collection. Presentations show how the staff can combine its knowledge with other resources to make a more complete story. Subjects for presentations this year are particularly timely and informative. Learn what’s new in Virginia Chronicle, part of the Virginia Newspaper Project. Discover stories from the Augusta County chancery court papers. Learn the interesting story of Richard Young, Richmond’s first official surveyor, and how his map of the city in 1817 was saved. Delve into the private papers collection and learn the rich genealogical sources that await your discovery. Don’t miss the opportunity to attend this program. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $35 for members and $50 for nonmembers of the Friends and includes a delicious lunch. Receive registration information by sending an e-mail to [log in to unmask] or by calling 804-741-0136 <(804)%20741-0136>. Registration deadline is March 19, 2018. Conley L.
