Dear Mick,
I can't help you with your question but I have a question for you. I've been working with the Shirley Plantation Papers--transcribing them for Charles Carter. There is a very complex case concerning some slaves that I think would make a good study for somebody but I don't know who. The problem begins in the 1820's and is tried in the Nelson County Court in the 1850's and won by the plaintiff but is appealed. There is a batch of correspondence between John Thompson, jr. of Amherst, representing the plaintiff, Landonia Randolph, and her relative, William F. Wickham of Hanover. If you would like to know more let me know. The case is Randolph v. Williams' Executors. You may be familiar with it already.
I hope all is going well with you and yours.
Harold
