Have the book and saw the entry but again, it is only a vague description and best guesses. I was once at the Valentine Museum looking up photos and someone was there that day doing research for a book only to speak up and mention that most history North of Broad was non existent. Shed Town must have had a bad reputation and totally ignored and even on some maps, not even shown though I understood that N 27th was once a main North-South road. And also heard that there was open springs running in the area - long gone. Would love to know how the landscape looked - trees, hills, streams, etc... along with house concentration. -----Original Message----- From: Discussion of research and writing about Virginia history [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Suzanne Savery Sent: Friday, July 15, 2011 10:29 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [VA-HIST] Shed Town There is a short section in "Old Richmond Neighborhoods" by Mary Wingfield Scott, with some images. Original publication 1950. I was looking at the 1984 edition. May be something in her book "Houses of Old Richmond" as well, did not check. The Valentine Richmond History Center has Scott's photographs and notes for this publication, most I think. If you are interested in checking for photographs you can send your request to the History Center archives and they can work assist you. Some documents state our house as being either in or on the border of Shed Town but in Church Hill ... 27th Street, while others say the border started at 25th Street. Was wondering about the landscape especially around the 1800-1820 era. Any paintings or photos in later years? Thanks!
