Dear Mr. Jackson,

According to Mary R. Miller, Place-Names of the Northern Neck of Virginia,
page 106, the point was proably named for a Capt. Henry Munday. An
engagement with the British and Virginia militia took place there on August
3, 1814, during the War of 1812.

Subject: [VA-HIST] Mundy Point (Northumberland County)

Can anyone provide me with a good source or sources on the origin of
the name "Mundy Point" in Northumberland County? It is located on the
Yeocomico River off the Potomac River. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.
