I was surprised to learn that the Library of Virginia’s Local Records collection holds so many naturalization records. Prior to 1906 the naturalization process was the responsibility of the local and state courts. In this week’s Out of the Box blog entry Local Records Coordinator Greg Crawford writes about naturalization records available here at the LVA and provides some interesting examples of immigrants who became citizens. The Library of Virginia will host a naturalization ceremony tomorrow from 11 A.M. to noon. While you are here see The Land We Live In, The Land We Left exhibit as the LVA marks the immigrant experience past and present. http://www.virginiamemory.com/blogs/out_of_the_box/ ______________________________________ To subscribe, change options, or unsubscribe please see the instructions at http://listlva.lib.va.us/archives/va-hist.html
