Sorry for the missing period. Am resending the announcement. Announcing the Lincolnarchives Digital Project, located at http://www.lincolnarchives.us. This digital project was launched in 2002. The goal of the project is to digitize all federal records housed at the National Archives and Records Administration which were created between March 4, 1861 through April 15, 1865. There are a few exceptions. Shortly after the Election of 1860 letters started coming in from office seekers looking for situations in the new government. These are being digized. At the other end, all records relating to the assassination of Lincoln, the capture, confinement and execution of the conspirators, the capture, and imprisonment of Jefferson Davis, and finally the capture and trial of John Surratt will be included. This project, upon completion will inventory the complete holdings of the National Arhives related to the Civil War years. All documents are scanned in color. Documents, as well as maps, photographs, newspapers, political cartoons, and podcasts provide the resources to supplement the curriulum as the Civil War sesquicentennial approaches. There are currently over 8,000 documents online, as well as newspapers, and video podcasts from leading Lincoln and Civil War scholars. The project is proud to announce the Blue and Gray Education Society's sponsorship. The Project was also endorsed by the Lincoln Bicentennial Commission in 2007.
