While I was in grad school earlier in this decade, my college library let me ILL microfilm on one condition: the microfilm went to the area with the microfilm readers and stayed there until either the ILL period expired or I told them it was okay to send it back, whichever happened first. I could and did live with that. I just made sure that, if I thought I might need to make copies, I used a reader that was also a copier.
