Thanks Jurretta for passing along this news.

Though I live 500 miles away near Charleston SC, my heart's in the 
Virginia Piedmont and my check to help support the Hatton Ferry goes 
into the mail today!  We cannot let the icons of our past disappear like 
this, else we will have no past to bequeath to future generations. 
Next time I'm up in the area I plan to take a ride on that ferry and I 
pray that it is still running rather than just 'noted' on a roadside sign.
