Anne, Getting funding for obtaining the DNA of William Hemings, son of Madison Hemings is NOT the question and a problem. As mentioned earlier, the Hemings cousins, WILL NOT participate in such a study and neither will Dan Jordan even suggest to them to participate. He even suggests to me to "put no pressure on them"........as if I cared to do that. There is no DNA proof that Madison and Eston were fathered by the same father, whoever he may be. What are they afraid of.......that there will be NO match between Madison and Eston?? NOTHING proves Thomas Jefferson to be guilty, see The Scholars Commission Study (13 top drawer senior professors)(www.tjheritage.org). I ask all readers to put NO FAITH in the Pike Co. newspaper article with claims of Madison Hemings. Either he or the author, Samuel Wetmore, tried to "pull the wool, over the public's eyes." It is a farce that Madison claims Dolley Madison was involved in naming HIM on his birthdate at Monticello. As I have said earlier this is NOT TRUE. If not, do we believe ANYTHING he writes.........I say NO, NO! If this is such a crucial need for history, let history pay for the tests to be done. There are any number of historical foundations around, including the Jefferson foundations, who should be footing the bill since they are the ones with the most at stake. It is interesting that I brought up this subject on a forum for American History and had not a single person interested in this "controversy". I think in the minds of most people the DNA showing that there was Jefferson DNA in the descendents, was enough to convince them that the Madison Hemings story was as likely to be true as the Eston Hemings story.
