Let me defend my last post in anticipation of those who may think I  
have a talent for stating the obvious. I was suggesting the idea that  
the "more perfect union" did not necessarily refer to whether the  
Union was intended to be binding or non-binding, but simply to the  
fact that the Articles of Confederation did not work very well in  
practice.
