Wolstenholme Towne is likely to be rolled up and done away with. This is just the continued move of CWF to try and undo years of terrible mismanagement. The selling of all the land surrounding the historic district (e.g., 300 off Quarterpath/60/199, etc.). CWF cares very little nowadays for anything but bottom line $$$. In the past they would would crap on anything 19th Century (including Civil War sites) and now they are crapping on everything BUT what they define as "core" to their foundation's "mission." Speaking of Civil War...the remnants of Williamsburg Civil War battlefield (May 4-5, 1862 over 4,000 total casualties) is being destroyed. Since 1998, what was left (probably about 2/5th of the original battlefield is being destroyed by development. The new Mega Mall off 199 is taking away the remannts of the Union HQ and base of operations in Williamsburg from 1862-1865 (Whitakers Plantation), the entire souther flank of the battlefield is being developed by Riverside (after CWF sold it to them), etc. etc. Only 1 "gem" remains - the site of the Hancock/Early fight. It is a 270 acre parcel, but already the Giant national developers are eyeing it.....Williamsburg for all its "historic" conotations is being nothing more than a figment of the preservation of history.
