How's this for RELEVANCE: TODAY--15 JANUARY in 1535, King Henry VIII, whom the Pope had once honored as "Defender of the Faith," declared HIMSELF the Head of the Church in England. It was still mainly the Catholic religion, which would evolve under Edward VI and especially under Elizabeth I (1558-1603) into the CHURCH OF ENGLAND, or ANGLICAN CHURCH, with an episcopal hierarchy but heavily influenced by Protestant beliefs from Continental Europe. By the way, I LOVE Haggis but get a bit ill when Scottish BLOOD Pudding is on my BREAKFAST plate!! As someone with extensive Bavarian and Prussian heritage, I thnk I can find a generations-old family recipe for GERMAN POTATO SALAD if the person looking for one would write me off-list at [log in to unmask] Best Wishes, Fred Fausz St. Louis To subscribe, change options, or unsubscribe, please see the instructions at http://listlva.lib.va.us/archives/va-hist.html
