My understanding is that only the person paying the passage received the 50 acres, aka "head right." This was paid even for multiple trips, to and from England. Adam Thoroughgood amassed a lot of head right land in this manner by transporting his wife, servants, and himself from England after he finished his own indenture in Elizabeth City (now Hampton, Va)and returned to England where he married Sahah Offley, daughter of London's mayor. Later trips to and from England bringing others and himself earned head right land for each passage including his own. Regards, Tom A.
