A good source for historic boundaries in the Albemarle area is _Historical Boundary Atlas of Central Virginia_, by Eric G. Grundset (Fairfax, Va.: Author, 1999). It includes the counties of Albemarle, Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Cumberland, Fluvanna, Goochland, Louisa, Nelson and Powhatan Counties, as well as their parent counties Henrico, New Kent. Map 4 shows the "western reaches of Hanover County". It shows the southern boundary of Hanover (1728) as crossing Fluvanna River between Moores Creek and Meadow Creek and going west from there. That western area became Louisa County in 1742 (Fredericksville Parish, see maps 5-7), and was transferred to Albemarle County in 1761 (Map 8). Donald L. Wilson, Virginiana Librarian, Ruth E. Has anyone done any research on this subject? I'm doing research on a 1739/40 patent in that area. Thanks in advance, _________________________________________ W.
