I would invite all of you in northern Virginia to attend this event and meet some of our more active local historians.

Holiday Book Mart
The Fairfax County History Commission is cosponsoring a Holiday Book Mart on Sunday, Dec. 11. The History Commission's two most recent books - "The Battle of Chantilly (Ox Hill)" and "Stone Ground: A History of Union Mills" - will be among the more than 40 local interest history books being autographed by local authors. Laura Elliott will be here with copies of two of her works of Virginia fiction for children," Annie Between the States" and "Under a War-Torn Sky". In addition, collectors of history, biographies, cookbooks and genealogical references may select from dozens of out-of-print and used Virginia books. The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room, Fairfax City Regional Library, 3915 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax. Cash and checks will be accepted. For more information, call 703-293-6383.
