A good source we are using at the Valentine Richmond History Center is Mary Miley Theobald and Libbey Hodges Oliver's "Four Centuries of Virginia Christmas," Dietz Press, paperback, 2000. It contains great images and even better footnotes, and could be a good start for you. It also includes descriptions of foods and decorations, as well as other customs. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Sunday, November 28, 2004 1:12 PM Subject: christmas tradition/observance > I am writing to request any information available regarding the manner > in which christmas was or was not observed in Virginia in the colonial > period, including any traditions and or changes in traditions or > practices. > > Even cites to anecdotal accounts would be appreciated.
