The next program in the Virginia Heritage Resource Center's Mining the Treasure House lecture series will take place at noon on Tuesday, 19 October, 2004 in the conference rooms adjacent to the lobby in the Library of Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond. The speaker will be Matt Cushman, who has researched free African-American barbers in Richmond during the early and mid-Nineteenth Century. His illustrated talk, "Free Black Barbers in Antebellum Richmond: A Cut Above the Rest', will explore the unique status held by these individuals. There is free underground parking for Library patrons, but please note that space is limited.
