There are several documents from the 1680s, 1690s, and first decade of the eighteenth century that mention conflicts between settlers in various parts of Virginia and the Very First Families of Virginia who were already there. Abstracts or transcriptions of varying degrees of accuracy can be found in volume one of William P. Palmer, et al., eds., CALENDAR OF VIRGINIA STATE PAPERS . . . . (Richmond, 1875). The original documents exist as part of an archival collection called Colonial Papers, Record Group 1, Library of Virginia, which has been microfilmed and can be consulted in the main reading room of the Library of Virginia in downtown Richmond. The CALENDAR OF VIRGINIA STATE PAPERS is one of the sources indexed in Swem's Index.
