Gadsby’s Tavern Museum and Carlyle House presents a Fall Lecture Series on George Washington by Dr. Peter Henriques, former Professor of History at George Mason University. Dr. Henriques taught American and Virginia history with special emphasis on Virginia and the American Revolution and the Virginia Founding Fathers. He has numerous published works, including his book, The Death of George Washington: He Died As He Lived. Lecture topics will include: October 21st: "Taking Command: George Washington and the Beginning of the American Revolution" October 28th: "Agreeable Consort: The Relationship Between George and Martha Washington" November 4th: "Former Friends: George Washington's Five Severed Relationships with Five Famous Virginians" November 11th: "Reluctant Enemies: The Increasingly Strained Relationship Between George Washington and Thomas Jefferson" Gadsby’s Tavern Museum Ballroom, 134 North Royal Street, Alexandria Refreshments at 7:00 p.m., Lecture at 7:30 p.m. $12 per lecture or $35/series.
