Awhile back there was a discussion on one of the groups I'm part of about
Arthur Benjamin Bowering. He was a Bugler in the 30th VA Inf.  A copy of an
article written in the 1890s was posted. In it A.B. Bowering talked about his
musical experience during the war.  He was responsible for organizing the
music for Jackson's funeral procession, according to this article. As I
recall the article Handel's DEAD MARCH from SAUL was the music played.
BTW his son when to VMI and wrote the Spirit of VMI song. A B. Bowering
taught music in Fredericksburg before the war and after the war. According to
him he played the last bugle call ( church call which was also used for a
truce call) for Lee's Army in April 1865.
