I think there are so many wineries in Virginia now, the state must slosh in a high wind. I understand that there is/are one or more licensed (legal) moonshine distilleries in Southwestern Virginia. When I checked a year ago at the ABC store, they mentioned them, but strangeley enough they do not carry Virgiani Moonshine. They did carry a Georgia product, which they told me was guaranteed "not to be more than 30 days old." Someone was going to set up a distillery in northwestern Fauquier County about this time last year, but I heard that he eventually decided to move on up the Valley of Virginia toward Harrisonburg. The public hearing on the project was held outside on the courthouse lawn in Harrisonburg because of the size of the crowd and number of those testifying. The Richmond Times-Dispatch, Harrisonburg Daily News-Record and Washington Post provided substantial coverage of the issue. In the end, economic devleopment arguments prevailed and the brewery was approved, but it has never reached projected volume or employment levels. > Gail Nardi > > To subscribe, change options, or unsubscribe, please see the instructions > at http://listlva.lib.va.us/archives/va-hist.html To subscribe, change options, or unsubscribe, please see the instructions at http://listlva.lib.va.us/archives/va-hist.html
