I recently located FN lists for Norfolk City from 1833-36 & 1851 that were amongst the records of the Auditor of Public Accounts (RG 48 Entries 339 & 757) and Personal Property Books (1836). I copied these thinking they were lists reflecting FN tithables. However upon closer inspection they appear to be lists of FN residents in Norfolk. Is this assumption correct? I also found lists of FN delinquent tax payers in the ended law causes for various years, but the lists specified delinquencies relating to slaves. My question is, did any of the poll (e.g. Act in 1814) or capitation (Act in 1850) tax lists survive for FN's in any part of Virginia? Hollis L.
