From May to July 1963, Civil Rights demonstrations erupted in Danville,
Virginia resulting in the arrest of over 250 persons. The demonstrators sat
down on Main Street and picketed the city jail. On June 10, the Danville
police attacked the demonstrators with nightsticks and fire hoses.

Does anybody know if other places in Virginia experienced this type of civil
rights demonstrations?

Thanks in advance,
