"General Washington & Governor Henry Reconsidered" is the topic of the first annual program in the Governor Henry Lecture Series co-sponsored by Red Hill--The Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation and the Library of Virginia. Distinguished historian Don Higginbotham, professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and biographer of George Washington, will deliver the lecture at Charlotte Court House at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, 22 April 2001, and at the Library of Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in Richmond at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, 23 April 2001. At 2:00 o'clock on Sunday, 22 April, preceding the lecture at Charlotte Court House, a reenactment of the famous 1799 election day speeches featuring Patrick Henry and John Randolph of Roanoke will be presented. Both events are open to the public without charge. There is free underground parking at the Library of Virginia.
