The Library of Virginia is pleased to announce that the Legislative Petition digital project is now available. Public improvements, military claims, divorce, manumission of slaves, division of counties, incorporation of towns, religious freedom, and taxation are just some of the concerns expressed in the collection of Legislative Petitions to the Virginia General Assembly, 1776 to 1865. Petitions from the counties of Accomack through Augusta are now available online. Check out today's Out of the Box for more on the collection and some featured petitions from Accomack County.
