Unlike the typical tithe/tax lists in the mid-late-1700s, the Head of
Household lists in VA in the 1780s had a column for "Number of White
Souls." Was this restricted to males only, or were females included?
Was this restricted to age 16 and above, or were all ages included? I
am not convinced that the "rules were the same" on these Head of
Household lists as for the early tithe/tax lists that only showed males
age 16 and over for the "white inhabitants." Thanks!
