RE: Watkins Crossing.  There was a Watkins in Halifax County and there are I believe 2 railroads running through Halifax. I found Watkins listed in "The Virginia Locator", compiled by Mrs. Joan Colbert Gioe, copyright 1981.  Watkins was located in the upper NE "finger", my term. Perhaps there was a railroad crossing there.
